“I trained to teach English up to A'level but my modelling career took off and I became a WAG with a brain,” said Kay, who lives in the West Midlands.
Married to Peter 'The Cat' Bonetti who made his name in goal for Chelsea in the 1970s, Kay joked that anyone who thought they were the archetypal footballing couple, would be in for a bit of a shock.
“Peter was bright enough to be an accountant and I'm not a dumb blond WAG, I've got a degree – we would be great to have on a pub quiz team,” she said with a chuckle.
Kay now models on the Ideal World shopping channel – and is a team manager for IDS UK.
She explained that her work with IDS, replenishing leaflet stands in 6,000 doctors surgeries and 750 pharmacies, fits in really well with her modelling and corporate hospitality work.
“I build my working life around the dates I work for IDS. I've worked for them for 15 years and I'm now team manager. The team has grown with me, we laugh together and cry together – it's a real team effort,” she said.
She really enjoys her modelling career too and as well as working on TV, she does photograpic modelling and will soon appear in a new campaign for Bradford and Bingley.
“On the shopping channels they don't want just young, skinny girls to model for them, they want real women with curves and the odd wrinkle,” she said.
